Three questions to the project team

What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The biggest challenge was balancing simplicity with the complexity of air freight logistics. Cargo booking involves specialised requirements, diverse user roles, and highly detailed information, yet users increasingly expect digital experiences that feel as intuitive as consumer products. Our task was not to remove complexity but to make it manageable. Through research, prototyping, and continuous stakeholder collaboration, we redesigned the experience around user needs, creating a booking journey that feels clear, efficient, and flexible without compromising functionality.

What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
A defining moment came when users interacted with the Fast Track booking concept for the first time. Seeing how a process that had traditionally required significant effort could be completed with confidence and ease validated the direction we had taken. Another highlight was the level of collaboration across 37+ stakeholders and 9 teams, all aligned around a shared vision. The biggest challenge was navigating different priorities and perspectives, but overcoming that complexity ultimately strengthened the solution and created broad ownership across the organisation.

Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
We see this project as a foundation rather than a finished product. Over the next five years, the experience can continue evolving through personalisation, automation, and AI-supported services that further simplify complex workflows. The modular design system creates the flexibility to scale across new products and touchpoints while maintaining a consistent experience. More broadly, we hope the project continues to raise expectations for digital quality in the logistics industry and demonstrates how user-centred design can drive meaningful transformation in traditionally complex sectors.
