Three questions to the project team
What was the particular challenge of the project from a UX point of view?
The biggest UX challenge was designing for multiple stakeholders with very different needs while keeping the experience simple for elderly users. Family members, healthcare providers, and older adults all require different types of information, yet they need to remain connected within the same system. Our solution was a role-based experience that delivers the right information to the right person without overwhelming users.
What was your personal highlight in the development process? Was there an aha!-moment, was there a low point?
My biggest aha moment came when we realized the problem was not health monitoring itself, but communication between elderly individuals, their families, and healthcare providers. This shifted the project from being another wearable device to a connected care ecosystem. One of the biggest challenges was balancing functionality with simplicity, ensuring that the system remained accessible while meeting the needs of multiple user groups.
Where do you see yourself and the project in the next five years?
Over the next five years, I hope to continue working in HCI research and design, focusing on technologies that address real challenges. For CareWear+, I see the potential to evolve beyond an academic concept into a scalable healthcare ecosystem that supports independent living, strengthens family connections, and enables more proactive care for aging populations.
